![]() ![]() There is no doubt that Ty Dolla $ign, real name Tyrone Griffin is one of the most intimidating performers in hip hop. He's dope and will go really, really far. Overall, the concert was dope and I can't wait to hear more of his music and see more of his style. Whether good or bad, it's still nice to hear what men think about us. We all can appreciate a man who pays attention to us and the way we carry ourselves. Females can relate from businesswomen to strippers. Like life in the streets, the club or at home. I think Ty$ is the kind of artist that already keeps it so real and true to his culture and himself that his music can be experienced in the same way among any group of people whose experienced the same things. Just the beat and the style of Ty$ and Dom together makes for the perfect groove. My favorite song, "Lord Knows" is a fly song in itself. He actually has a pretty keen insight on female nature and characteristics. He doesn't sing about fantasies and things that I can't relate to. I like especially like that he keeps it real. ![]() He reminds me of some of my favorite artists like Dom Kennedy, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar. Before leaving home, I was already prepared for a awesome night of smooth music and good vibes. Ty Dolla Sign was just jiggy! His style of music and catchy song lyrics truly maade my night. His E.P’s, collaborations and mixtapes have made him the kind of name that most artists would kill to be, and even then, he’s got his best days far ahead of him. To cap it off, this level of success has come without even a debut album to his name. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, collaborating with everyone from new blood The Weeknd, established stars like label boss Wiz Khalifa, all the way up to bona fide legends like Rihanna. Most notably, he co-wrote and produced YG’s debut single “Toot It And Boot It” in 2010, his first taste at Billboard chart success.Īfter some solo releases he signed a major label contract with Atlantic Records in 2012, followed by another contract with Taylor Gang Records the following year. Needless to say, it’s some serious talent and skill.īeginning his musical career as a bassist in 2007, Griffin tried his hand at rapping in a number of groups and solo project but first came to true prominence as a producer. It might stick out like a sore thumb but like the Foo Fighters before him, having an absurd stage name has only made the fact that Tyrone Griffin has risen above it and can be taken seriously for his talent and skill all the more impressive. I can’t be the only person in the world to look at the stage name of one of modern R&B’s premier lotharios and find myself only able to think of Glee’s Principle Figgins referring to Ke$ha as “Ke-dollar-sign-ha”, right? ![]()
